Health information seminars are held in Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, and Shenyang with the aim of educating individuals about the importance of replenishing body fluids after donating blood.
OTSUKA Health Comic Library Donated to Elementary and Middle Schools

Aiming to stimulate interest in health and help students learn about nutrition and how their bodies function, Otsuka Pharmaceutical began publishing the OTSUKA Health Comic Library series in 1989. Published once a year, volumes are distributed to elementary and middle schools, public libraries and schools for the handicapped throughout Japan and to Japanese schools outside Japan. The series targeting senior children at elementary schools totals 12 volumes, and 6 volumes have been published for middle school students. At present, the new series is in the course of publication, targeting students in the middle years of elementary school.

Internship Programs (Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory)
Internship programs have been established for industrial high school students and technology college students who live in the neighborhood of the factories. In addition to educational support, this program also facilitates incorporation of the consumer’s point of view into environmental preservation and other corporate activities.
Child Sponsorship Support (Otsuka (Philippines) Pharmaceutical)
Beginning in 2006, a four-year plan for cooperation in the World Vision Child Sponsorship Program provides support for education, medical treatment and health care for 10 orphaned children each year.

Vitamin Supplements for Orphan Homes (Pharmavite; USA)
As part of a project organized by an industry support group, vitamin supplements are donated to support the health of children in orphan homes in the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan.
Tokyo Marathon Support (Otsuka Pharmaceutical)
Amino-Value was the official beverage for the first Tokyo Marathon held in 2007 and the second Tokyo Marathon held in 2008. Again, in March 2009, 330,000 servings of W Amino-Value, formulated with 4000mg of branched chain amino acids, were distributed by volunteers along the course to support the 35,000 amateur runners who competed in the Tokyo Marathon 2009.

Pocari Sweat Sailboat Donated for Children’s Day (Tianjin Otsuka Beverage)
A gigantic sailing craft created from 9,999 empty Pocari Sweat cans was donated to Tianjin’s largest park for Children’s Day. The huge ship is loved by local children and has become a symbol of the park.

Support for Elementary School Reconstruction (Amerta Indah Otsuka; Indonesia)
A charity concert was organized to raise funds for the restoration of an elementary school destroyed in the May 2006 Java earthquake.

Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake Disaster Relief (Otsuka Pharmaceutical, Otsuka Foods)
Relief supplies delivered to victims of the July 2007 Niigata Chuetsu offshore earthquake included fluids such as Pocari Sweat and Crystal Geyser Water and Bon Curry and Calorie Mate food products.
Matching Funds for NGOs Involved in Indian Ocean Tsunami Relief (Otsuka Pharma; Germany)
Employees’ donations were matched by Otsuka Pharma and gifted to a fund-raising project organized by the Frankfurt municipal government to reconstruct an Indonesian hospital damaged by the Indian Ocean Tsunami in December 2004.

Cooperation in Dengue Fever Prevention and Treatment Programs (Otsuka (Philippines) Pharmaceutical, Otsuka Indonesia)
Otsuka Holding Group companies participate in local eradication programs to prevent contagion from the mosquito-borne dengue virus and in blood drives for treatment of dengue fever, a growing concern in tropical and subtropical regions.
Volunteers Assist with Crude Oil Disposal (Dong-A Otsuka; Korea)
Employees volunteered for to collect crude oil after a December 2007 tanker collision created a major oil spill on the South Korean coast. Beverages were also supplied for residents of the stricken area.
