(OPC) was established to enhance Otsuka's pharmaceutical product development and commercialization. 1985 Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (OPC) established its first U.S. research institute, Maryland Research Laboratories, at Shady Grove Life Sciences Center in Rockville, MD. 1989 Otsuka America, Inc. (OAI) was established as a holding company for the US subsidiaries of the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group. 1989 Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI) was incorporated to commercialize Otsuka-discovered and Otsuka-developed products, as well as other pharmaceutical products, in the United States. 2001 Otsuka Maryland Research Institute, LLC (OMRI) was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of OAPI to research and develop innovative healthcare products. 2003 Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, LLC (OMML) was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of OMRI to conduct basic research to support clinical studies and engage in drug discovery in conjunction with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Japan. 2007 Otsuka Maryland Research Institute, Inc. (OMRI) merged with Otsuka's Global Development and Commercialization division to establish Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc. (OPDC) to streamline development and launch of Otsuka's pharmaceutical products on a global basis. 2007 Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, LLC (OMML), formerly a subsidiary of Otsuka Maryland Research Institute, Inc., became a separate, incorporated entity, Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, Inc.
