Introduction of Cogeneration System

Otsuka Chemical Tokushima Factory has introduced a cogeneration system that uses city gas to generate electricity while efficiently utilizing the heat produced in the process. In addition to powering the Otsuka Chemical factory, the facility provides electricity and steam to Otsuka Pharmaceutical, Otsuka Foods and Taiho Pharmaceutical factories in the same area. The introduction of this cogeneration system has resulted in a 22% reduction in CO2 emissions and a reduction of nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide emissions to 10% of previous levels. Energy efficiency has also improved, from 55% to 80%.
