Basic Policy
The Otsuka group has established 2050 Environmental Vision, “Net Zero,” with the aim of reducing the total environmental impact across all its business activities to zero. Under this vision, we set mid-to-long-term goals and will advance our efforts for each of the following areas; Carbon Neutrality, Circular Economy, Water Neutrality, and Biodiversity.
We strive to advance as an essential company that contributes to the health of people and global environment. We will help to realize a society in which people and the earth can coexist in the future by continuing to work on the issues with creativity.
We will promote activities to improve employees' understanding and recognition of environmental issues through environment-related training, generate synergy among Otsuka group companies, and act from a unified standpoint.

Governance
As a company dedicated to contributing to the health and well-being of people worldwide, the Otsuka group strives to reduce its environmental impact through its business activities and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. To this end, the group has established a governance framework to ensure the appropriate management of environmental issues. The Otsuka Holdings Environmental Committee, chaired by the Executive Deputy President and Representative Director of Otsuka Holdings and composed of directors or executive officers from each operating company, plays a central role in overseeing initiatives related to environmental issues, including risks and opportunities arising from environmental challenges such as climate change. The Committee discusses the overall approach and initiatives for the Otsuka group as a whole and monitors progress against the targets set. Furthermore, the key environmental issues related to the group’s management strategies are submitted to the Otsuka Holdings Board of Directors. Environmental priorities and initiatives approved by the Board of Directors are implemented and promoted through the Otsuka Group Environmental Practices Committee, which comprises directors responsible for production functions and environmental management personnel from operating companies, leading to concrete action throughout the group.

Green Finance
The Otsuka group has issued Green Bonds, which are bonds that are intended to fund investments aimed at resolving environmental issues. The Otsuka group will continue to promote environmental-impact-reduction initiatives through further utilization of renewable energy and the use of new technologies and solutions with the aim to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized, more sustainable society.

Industry Associations
The Otsuka group is promoting common environmental initiatives in cooperation with various industry associations, including the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association and the Japan Soft Drink Association, while maintaining fair relationships. The group deepen mutual understanding through communication and discussion and work together to improve the sustainability of the entire industry.
Japan Soft Drink Association
PET bottles for beverages account for about 70% of plastic containers and packaging used for consumer products handled by the group companies. For this reason, the group considers PET bottles recycling a social responsibility. Otsuka Pharmaceutical and Otsuka Foods are members of the Japan Soft Drink Association. In particular, Otsuka Pharmaceutical serves as executive director of the organization and actively works to resolve industry issues, including the promotion of a PET bottle recycling system: “Bottle-to-Bottle” initiatives, and efforts to address logistics issues.
